SIDAREC social enterprise fund was established to offer financial support in form of loans to self-help groups and individuals that are starting, developing or growing a social enterprise business in the communities that we operate. These are social entrepreneursin the community who are within groups, united in their passion for change, and using the business to power that change and to be more self-reliant in creating the change they seek in the community.
The programme seeks to reduce poverty cycles and dependency of women by facilitating access to economic empowerment opportunities that will enable them to initiate sustainable business enterprises. This will enable women to have economic power and make informed decisions and choices as well actively participate in leadership and community development initiatives.

This program is the dissemination wing for SIDAREC. It is charged with the responsibility of creating diverse channels of communication and producing IEC and other campaign materials that address health and economic empowerment while at the same time address the skills and knowledge gap among the community members. Kibra slums in Nairobi is the largest informal settlement in Kenya and the second largest in Africa. According to UN-Habitat, the population of Kibra ranges from 500,000 to 700,000. The slum comprise of 10 villages: Lindi, Soweto East and West, Makina , Kianda, Mashimoni, Katwekera, Kisumu Ndogo, Laini Saba and Siranga.
SIDAREC Kibra center is located in Laini Saba village at in the middle of slum. The center has a library with supplementary and curriculum books that is freely accessible to the community members, a community hall that serve as a multipurpose center for trainings, workshops, and community meetings.
In an effort to cushion the economic pressure facing young people in the slum SIDAREC works with a number of youths and youth groups through talent development, training and access to capital to start and develop their business enterprises within Kibra community.
